Government selects Initforthe for Digital Outcomes and Specialists Framework

What it means for us, and our clients

This week, the list of suppliers for the UK Government's Digital Outcomes and Specialists Framework was released. And we're delighted to announce that Initforthe made it on that list, for both the 'Digital Outcomes' and 'Digital Specialists' parts of the framework.

One of the requirements for being accepted into the framework is the capability to "work in an Agile way".

But what does that mean? (note the capital 'A' in Agile too - it's not just about being flexible).

The Agile Manifesto Agile Manifesto was written in February of 2001 by seventeen independent-minded software practitioners The manifesto looks at 12 core software development principles that look to uncover better ways of developing software by physically doing it and helping others do it also. These include:

The Agile Manifesto has been taken up by the UK Government wholeheartedly. Projects in government have historically gone way over budget - often after an initial low "bait" quote by a supplier. Agile prevents this, whilst at the same time ensuring that value is delivered back to the taxpayer faster.

Initforthe has been a practitioner of Agile (Scrum in our case) for four years now. We wholeheartedly believe it provides the best return on investment for our clients when delving into the deep, dark world of software.

We're extremely proud to have been accepted into the Framework and are looking forward to helping the government deliver on its goals of a more integrated and better connected public service. Of course, we'll also help them meet their SME spending goals too!

We'll be putting together a series on Agile and how it can benefit your business in the coming weeks. Sign up to our mailing list to be kept up to date. If you'd like to know more in the meantime, please get in touch.
